Paddle boarding, kayaking, several heated races, a towering inferno, and a BBQ. What better way to spend a summer evening?!

A memorable evening yesterday as we learned to paddle board along Bridgwater and Taunton Canal. A big “thank you” to Somerset Adventures for their guidance (and patience!).

Followed by a fantastic BBQ in the evening (courtesy of the Brown’s – thank you). Towering inferno below!

Let us not get caught up in who scored what. It was a fantastic evening as members of Taunton Round Table tried their hand at pitch & putt.

A wide range of ability was observed throughout the evening. Of course, we welcome all skill levels!

Special thanks to Swingrite Golf Centre who welcomed us yesterday evening, somewhat near to closing time.

Last Friday (9th February) we were pleased to be joined by circa. 100 Tabler’s / ex-Tabler’s at our 85th Charter Night.

Guests travelled from across the country to be with us as we celebrated 85 years of Taunton Round Table 140. It was fantastic to have ex-members of Gripsholm Round Table 140 (Sweden) join us for the weekend too.

The evening began with a welcome from Master of Ceremonies, Alistair Tudor (thank you for hosting). Our President, Harley Brown, recited the Aims and Objects of Round Table. Andrew Worsdale, Chairman of Taunton Round Table, gave a speech on our charity work and fellowship. National President of Round Table Britain and Ireland (RTBI), Christopher Bush, discussed the wider impact of Table.

Many past Chairman of Taunton Round Table attended, dating as far back as the Chairman of 1977 (Rikki Batts). Last month we officially joined Area 19 – it was great to have Chairman Matt Watts give support and join us for the evening. Special thanks goes to Ephraim Angus for organising the event.

We are looking forward to a jam-packed year of events and fundraising!

This week we express our thanks to The Sangha House founders, Denise and Andy Spragg, for patiently teaching us how to look after our nails 💅!

Pictured above is our Chairman (and avid nail care enthusiast), Andrew, receiving a lick of paint. During the session we learned about nail hygiene, general maintenance, and how to add colour.

While not typical of our Tuesday evening… we will certainly do it again in the future!

Yesterday evening we were fortunate to be given a tour of Pyne’s of Somerset by the man himself, Malcom Pyne, who generously gave his time to share his story.

Malcom and his wife, Julie, are are stellar example of entrepreneurship in Somerset. Over the last forty years the business has grown into a well-loved, high quality, enterprise.

The tour was held as part of our ‘Introduction to Taunton Round Table’ event where we welcomed many new faces for the evening. After significantly reducing our body temperatures by a few degrees in Malcom’s fridge, we visited The Spice Gallery in North Petherton. A much needed hot meal!

Santa begins his Taunton travels today! 🎅

Before we begin, we would like to express our gratitude to South West Nissan Wellington for kindly supplying the towing vehicle free of charge. Their support makes a big difference to the amount we raise during the festive period 🥰

A hidden gem can be found on the outskirts of Bridgwater, Somerset – Stocklands Vineyard. On Tuesday 3rd October, 2023, members of Taunton Round Table (TRT) were given the opportunity to maintain the soon-to-be-harvested vines in return for a wine tasting session.

Run by Liam McEachen, the vineyard spans one hectare and produces thousands of bottles of wine each year. Upon harvest, grapes are carefully fermented into bottles of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The wine is sold to pubs and retailers in Somerset and beyond.

Following the wine tasting, a much-needed meal was enjoyed at Pig & Wheel. Thanks goes to Liam who shared his expertise and delicious wine!
